As winter kicks into full gear, it’s time to break out the cute ski outfits and hit the slopes…or at least the lodge with a cup of cocoa while your friends hit the slopes. Many vacations can still be wonderful even if the accommodations don’t pan out as well as I wanted them to. However, a ski trip is not one of those. The resort makes the experience. Both the lodge and the private accommodations must be warm, cozy, and catering to a guest’s every need. I’ve been to resorts where the lodges are overrun with guests, and it can try even the most laid back traveler’s patience. With these top luxury ski resorts, you won’t face this problem – they are spacious, cozy and perfect winter getaways.
Post Hotel & Spa, Lake Louise, Canada
Located in the Banff National Park, Post Hotel is a luxurious retreat with beautiful views, conveniently only five minutes away from the ski slopes. Perhaps the resort with the smallest spaces on this list, Post Hotel has a cozy lodge and accommodations set in an idyllic setting. There are four stellar dining options including an English style pub and a fondue specialty restaurant as well as daily afternoon tea in the lobby. The resort also offers a small boutique, salt water pool, fitness center, and spa offering massages, facials, nail services, body treatments, and waxing. The area is a snow bunny’s heaven, offering ski slopes, cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, dog sledding, snowshoe tours, snowmobile tours, and ice skating. The best accommodation on the property is the Watson House, boasting 3,000 sq ft with four bedrooms with ensuite, a large dining room, kitchen, and perhaps the best amenity – the stellar views of the Pipestone River, steps away from the house.
