NYFW: Oscar de la Renta’s Successor Honors Late Designer’s Perspective on the Runway

When the fashion world lost the amazing Oscar de la Renta, we all wondered what would become of his empirical brand. Brit Peter Copping, former creative director at Nina Ricci was selected as  Oscar de la Renta’s successor. His debut at NYFW honored the late fashion icon, and I could see Oscar de la Renta’s touches and viewpoints in several of Copping’s designs. It is apparent, that while Copping did not have the chance to work side by side with the designer as originally intended, he certainly worked with the team to grasp the de la Renta perspective. The results were true to form elegance, luxury and just the perfect amount of ingenuity.

    1. Very true. I still get a sad smile on my face every time I see a photo of him. He was such a big personality in the fashion industry, and it’s impossible to fill the void he left. At least Copping, his replacement has tried to treat his legacy brand with care.
