MFW: Versace’s Combat Runway Collection

Donatella Versace showed a combat-oriented collection at her Milan Fashion Week S/S16 RTW show. It was a bit of a departure from her usual creations, focusing on daywear and in some cases, actually creating serious RTW rather than sexy little vixen party dresses. My jaw dropped at the first few looks – jacket mini dresses cinched at the waist with wide belts with glossed enamel Versace emblem buckles. Then the color palette went a little cuckoo, with military camo in colors of green, purple, yellow and orange. It was…unfortunate as completely chic and wearable silhouettes were overpowered by a color design coveted only by juveniles and eccentrics. Still, some stellar looks were woven into the collection.
