Karl Lagerfeld took the S/S16 RTW Paris Fashion Week runway back to the days when air travel was a luxury experience to dress for. The collection was shown in the Grand Palais, or for this fantastical runway shoe, also known as Chanel Airlines terminal. Flight destinations included Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, Salzburg, New York, Seoul, London, Tokyo, and Rome.
About 100 practical – but fabulous – looks walked through the terminal, some were of course, the classic Chanel tweed and herringbone jackets and skirts.
Yet others showed Lagerfeld’s wide range like a breezy sheer blue jumpsuit, relaxed, slightly oversized silhouettes, retro plane print sweats, and geometric embroidered cocktail dresses with shredded lace and rhinestone studded tops.
Colors and patterns seemed to be a nod to Air France, in red, white and blue. It was a leisure motif indeed, but had such high energy!
