{Spring 2017 RTW} Gigi Hadid designed her own collection for Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger just showed the much anticipated nautical-themed collaboration with Gigi Hadid at New York Fashion Week – more a show for social media masses for immediate consumption than the fashion industry. Thankfully, the pieces were buzz-worthy for a model celeb created collection intended for immediate sales…I have to admit there’s some serious cuteness going on here.

Times, they are definitely changing. And industry people are definitely chattering about it. Some don’t like it, and perhaps they have a point. The end of an era is always a little painful, especially if the era was a good one. But resisting change is usually futile.

Besides, Hadid is the current it-girl, and her perspective, although a continuation of looks Hilfiger had already somewhat touched on in his Fall collection (though decidedly more saccharine vintage), is decidedly more modern, more youthful, and will draw in more Hilfiger fans.

Of course, I love the officer’s jacket worn by Gigi on the runway over black leather pants, the chunky sweaters, high waist denim embellished on both sides by large buttons, the grey button down sweater dress, and the gold star embroidered black leather jacket.

See now, buy now is definitely an exciting aspect to this season’s designers that are opting for the new model.
