Penelope Cruz went classic bombshell in a low-cut number at the 31st annual Goya Cinema Awards in Madrid, Spain. She wore a black high-slit gown that wrapped around the shoulders and a Swarovski pavé encrusted bra top, with the fabric ruching at her side.
It was a display of fireworks on Zuhair Murad‘s Spring 2017 couture runway – the designer taking literal inspiration from the advanced pyrotechnic displays of Japan. The concept was realized through a few playsuits and jumpsuits, but mostly gowns of eye-popping color.
Simple is not the word to ever define a Valentino collection, but it certainly seemed to reflect the shift in perspective compared to collections past. Debuting his first solo couture collection without Maria Grazia Chiuri by his side, Pierpaolo Piccioli showed a surprising, but ever exquisite compilation inspired by dreamscapes.
Giambattista Valli managed to merge both the boho traveler and the princess in a ballgown into one couture collection, and I’m still not quite sure how this all fit together. For his Spring17 Couture runway at Paris Fashion Week, Valli imagined a (super rich) traveler pulling out her dresses to find major creases in them…but hey, you’re traveling. C’est la vie, right? It’s the bohemian, life?
Lagerfeld took it back to soft sophistication (with a twist) in a sugary sweet palette accentuated by metallics for his Spring 2017 Chanel couture collection. Oh, the feathers.

We already knew the amazing work that Maria Grazia Chiuri was capable of when she worked at the house of Valentino…and now we’re really seeing her shine. This was the first couture collection of Christian Dior with Chiuri at the helm, and it was everything we wanted it to be.
So too has Alberta Ferretti climbed aboard the slow moving train toward progress in the business of fashion. Her latest show was a Pre-Fall see-now-buy-now capsule, mashed with her Limited Edition collection, mashed with a few men’s looks thrown in.
It was a wide range of looks on the People’s Choice Awards red carpet last night in LA. From a faux leather baby bump to a fringe mini to full glam, it was all there. And a lot of black this year. But boring is not the word I’d call this red carpet. These ladies came to show off their personalities.

Sisters Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian were spotted leaving the set of Ocean’s Eight in NYC, wearing ethereal sheer designer gowns for their cameo appearances. The scene is reportedly a night at the biggest fashion night of the year – the Met gala. Other fashion industry heavy hitters reported to be making appearances in the film include Anna Wintour, Zac Posen, and Alexander Wang. Um, now I definitely want to see this movie.
