Luxe Christmas: NYC Holiday Displays

The holiday spirit is alive in my house. There’s just something magical about all the beautiful lights and window displays during the holidays. What better place than New York City to experience the magic? Each year the city seems to outdo itself with gorgeous displays by department stores, hotels, and restaurants. Check out this compilation of my favorites this year!

{Luxe Interiors} SwanfieldLiving: Tailored spaces from the outside in

Christina Mertz started SwanfieldLiving in Copenhagen as a small interior design firm that may be young, but is making quite a name for itself. The company takes on luxury residentials as well as commercial and overseas projects.

I imagine work wouldn’t feel like work at all if an organization’s interiors were designed by Mertz. Her philosophy is to always create a timeless approach – to merge the elegance of classic style with new contemporary interiors. The result is understated elegance in a chic, yet comfortable space.

Best Luxe Looks: Ulyana Sergeenko Fall 2015 Couture

Ulyana Sergeenko’s Fall 2015 Couture collection is themed after the apartments of her native Russia. The concept is based on Saint Petersburg’s Soviet-era communal apartments, which took opulent estate homes and partitioned them amongst soldiers, sailors, KGB officers, poor families and even mistresses. The collection is full of interior textiles and shapes, all with an old world feel of a glamorous bygone era.

{Luxe Travel} Best Luxury Home Rentals Across the Globe

Updated Jan 2017

When I’m not traveling, I’m usually dreaming about travel. Or planning for our next trip(s). Actually, my husband usually laughs at how much I research for our travel adventures. But who cares? It’s joy for me, and I love looking at images of beautiful places and imagining ourselves there. So this post has been my favorite thus far to create.

{Travel} Luxe Scotland Artists’ Retreat: Hospitalfield at Arbroath

My junior year in undergrad, I had to choose where I was going to complete my study abroad requirement (oh, if I MUST). I wanted to go to a tropical oasis in Brazil, or a romantic villa in Tuscany, and soak up every amazing, relaxing, luxe experience I could. Then an announcement went out for a new opportunity to attend the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland for a summer term, designed by one of my favorite artists and architects: Charles Rennie Mackintosh. I had previously studied and really connected with his style and works. In high school, I fell head over heels in love with art, specifically art nouveau and arts and crafts movements, so this was a big thing for me (I know. Totally geeky, but this girl’s passion for fashion probably stems from this era of a beautiful immersive experience in amazing works of art.)  So of course I jumped at the opportunity.

LFW: Erdem’s Collection Inspired by Fictional Art Collector

Erdem Moralioglu took inspiration for his F/W 2015 RTW collection from The Collector, an art installation by production designer Robin Brown. The installation was an apartment interior, overstuffed with art, books, magazines, records and collectibles by a fictional Parisian art collector.

The visuals of the installation are directly translated into Erdem’s fascinating collection. The looks are rich yet shabby…polished yet disorderly. The fabrics look like they could have come from the interior decor of an eccentric art collector of eras past. The collection is thoughtful and creative, evoking a sense of nostalgia and inspiration while still remaining very wearable.
