{Luxe Style} Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on Elle Brazil cover

Rosie HW is the September cover girl for Elle Brazil, and ah, those clothes! She shot two covers and had a spread of covetous designer looks.

The choices in styling were fantastic – the metallic blush gold cover dress from the Valentino Fall 2016 collection was perfect. It read well on the runway, but seeing it worn separately against a white backdrop, it has so much more personality and depth in color.

{LUXE RED CARPET} DAY 7 CANNES 2016: BEST DRESSED WAS DRIPPING IN SILVER

With the premiere of Pedro Almodovar’s Spanish film Julieta and Personal Shopper starring Kristen Stewart, the 7th day of the Cannes red carpet was a frenzy of fabulous fashion. There was great energy in the group. Actually it was a bit too kinetic, with a couple of mishaps on the red carpet. Hey, it’s bound to happen when you have those treacherous stairs combined with long trains.

There were a few breezy chiffons, a couple of stellar metallics, and on trend florals, and really…I just didn’t see any terrible looks. Bravo, starlets!

Luxe Red Carpet: Tribeca Film Festival 2016

Aside from the buzz that Robert De Niro has created around the vaccine debate, the rest of the attention has been on the films and the red carpet of the Tribeca Film Festival now celebrating its 15th year. My best dressed list is short, but so good.

Walking the red carpet was Kick Ass actress Chloe Grace Moretz, wearing a maxi skirt version of the Proenza Schouler metallic pleat dress I was fawning over recently. She also wore a black Wolford long sleeve top and metallic gold crisscross sandals (ehh, they’re ok).

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams was also there, looking absolutely adorable in this strapless ballgown by Manchester designer Zeynep Kartal.

Luxe Celeb Style: Kate Middleton at Garden Party in India

It’s the stuff fairy tales and little girls’ dreams are made of, but for Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge it is just another Monday.

The setting is a royal English garden tea party in exotic India. And of course, for such an ethereal setting, one of her favorite designers’ creations would be absolute perfection – Temperley Londons’ Delphia embroidered crop top and embroidered silk-organza maxi skirt.

Doesn’t she just look gorgeous?!

Luxe Red Carpet Review: 2016 Oscars Best and Worst Dressed

Best Dressed

Alicia Vikander absolutely slayed the red carpet in this custom Louis Vuitton. The strapless dusty yellow with silver metallic embellishments looked stunning against her skin, and the bubble skirt at the bottom hit at a great height and proportion. Bubble skirts are hard to pull off, but I felt the whole look worked really well.

I don’t know who you are, Dorith Mous (just being real here), but I love your gown, so I think I’m about to get to know who you are! She wore this black Dennis Diem (of Amsterdam) with a stunning lace bodice. She needs to win something just for this gown and that gorgeous side swept hair.

Can I just say that Lara Spencer has a smoking hot body? I mean, I kinda want her abs. You have to be really fit to pull off this Roland Mouret gown – you can literally see the definition in her abs. She’s just rocking it. May have ended up on the worst dressed list if someone else tried to pull this off, but good thing for Lara, she’s obviously owning the gym right now. Get it, girl!

I keep going back and forth on Olivia Wilde in this white pleat Valentino gown with a plunging neckline. It’s a boxy silhouette and the waist sits high, so it shortens her. But the gown moved so beautifully, and I love the pleats. So she’s staying in the best dressed category for me.

The choker trend has been playing out on the Fall 2016 RTW runways, and it’s perfect timing that she tries it out with this beautiful piece instead of opting for a long necklace.

{MFW Fall 16 RTW} Prada’s Family Quilt of Feminine Heritage

Miuccia Prada dedicated the Prada Fall 2016 RTW collection to all of the experiential pieces of womanhood through history. “We need to understand who we are now….Maybe it’s useful to look back to the different characteristic moments, difficulties, love, no love, pain, happiness, different kinds of women: sexy, boring, traveler. So this was the main concept.”

The resulting collection was a patchwork of layered elements from feminine fashion. It was like a quilt created from the loving female elders to showcase the familial history of what has made the youngest inheriting generation what it is today. At first, it is a jarring combination of pieces that looks jumbled and confusing. But as each look comes down the runway, the puzzle starts becoming clear, and it’s thought provoking.

Impeccably tailored coats were a staple in the collection, covered at the waist with lace up corsets. Nurse caps and argyle stockings added a vintage war time vibe to the military style olive drab masculine coats as well as the more classic feminine silhouettes like a scoop neck A-line and pencil skirts.

The collection was a variety show of women’s wear of decades past. Brocades, leathers, heavy wools, crepe, and furs all create a juxtaposition of textures to enhance the idea of the layered history. Bold graphic prints contrasted with some of the more demure silhouettes, creating a well crafted balance between sweet and powerful.

The Emmy red carpet last night was a flurry of fabulous couture, and perhaps a first for this blogger. I didn’t see one look that I considered a total fail, and only a few that were so-so. MFW: Prada’s 1960’s Perfect Pastel Caricatures

Prada‘s F/W 2015 RTW collection evoked images of the idyllic 1960’s woman – an impossible caricature of pastel perfection. The looks were polished, sweet and oddly, immediately made me think of the ladies of Edward Scissorhands as well as the fabulous personal idol, Jackie Onassis.
